Nothing hazardous is needed to store the energy: no electrolyte and no thermal-runaway chemistry. Like any machine, it uses some conventional industrial fluids for cooling and maintenance. The unit is built to be repaired rather than replaced, and end-of-life recycling plans are still being developed.
