What Does a Company Look Like Before the Market Discovers It?

Before a technology becomes widely recognized, much of the work happens out of public view.

Engineers build and test prototypes. Teams develop intellectual property, establish manufacturing capabilities, and work with potential customers. Capital is invested long before commercial success is certain.

That is the stage of development Qnetic has been working through since its founding on September 28, 2021.

Five years of building the foundation

Qnetic was founded to develop an alternative approach to grid-scale energy storage using high-speed flywheel technology.

Over five years, the company has raised more than $12 million from individual investors, venture capital, and private investment. It has grown its engineering and operating team, developed its technology, and begun establishing the facilities needed to move from prototype development toward manufacturing.

Key developments include:

  • Technology development: Qnetic has advanced its Vega demonstrator and built Pulsar, its full-size serial-product alpha prototype.
  • Testing infrastructure: The company has established its Shanghai Technology Center and developed dedicated testing and assembly capabilities in Sacramento.
  • Intellectual property: Qnetic has filed four PCT patent applications as part of its technology development and IP strategy.
  • Commercial engagement: The company has signed two U.S. pilot customer agreements for 2027, providing a path toward real-world deployment.

Each milestone addresses a different part of the challenge: developing the technology, proving it through testing, building the organization to deliver it, and establishing a route to market.

Today, Qnetic has a real team, real technology, real facilities, real intellectual property, and real customers raising their hands for what we’re building.

Five years ago, we were asking whether this was possible.

Today, we’re working to prove it.

To everyone who has invested, built, tested, supported, partnered with, and believed in Qnetic over the past five years: thank you.

Happy 5th birthday, Qnetic.
